Covington County School Board Names Jon Chancelor as the Superintendent of Education.

Collins, Mississippi. Today the Covington County Board of Education named Jon Chancelor as the Superintendent of Education for Covington County Schools. He will assume the duties of superintendent on July 1, 2024.

The school board selected applicants from a wide selection of exceptional candidates. 

A 22-year veteran educator, Mr. Chancelor is currently the Director of Operations for the Covington County School District.  Previously, he has served as social studies teacher, coach, assistant principal, athletic director, middle school principal, and high school principal. He has worked in Lamar County and in Covington County.

His education includes: Enterprise High School (Clarke County), Jones County Junior College, and the University of Southern Mississippi.

Rene’ Shoemaker board president stated, “The five-member Covington County Board of Education is excited to have Mr. Chancelor as our new superintendent.  He has served Covington County school for 13 years in various capacities and we look forward to continued progress under his leadership.”

Covington County Hospital donated eight insulated coolers to the Covington County School District Athletic Training program. On hand to accept the coolers was Kevin "Pep" Culpepper, Athletic Trainer for the Covington County School District (center). This donation will help support athletic programs in all Covington County schools. Presenting the coolers on behalf of CCH are David Culpepper, Director of Marketing (left), and Mike Williamson, Director of Physical Therapy (right).
